Another offering from popular longboard maker, Atom, is the Atom Longboards Bamboo Drop Through longboard. While this board is very similar to other Atom Longboards such as the Atom Drop Through Longboard, there are enough differences to warrant another review.
Atom Longboards excels in the cheap longboard market and this longboard is no exception. With a combination of high-quality components and a smooth riding experience, this longboard is perfect for beginners looking for a cheap board.

The Board
The first difference is in the 40-inch deck which is constructed out of a mix of bamboo and maple. This gives the board just the right mix of flexibility and stiffness for riders.
It also comes with Navigator Drone trucks and special Atom Area 51 78A wheels. With the highest grade bearings available from Abec also standard, this board has enough quality components to ensure consistent riding for years.

Riding the Atom Drop Through
Riding this board is reminiscent of a stiffer Loaded Vanguard. It carves down streets and hills smoothly with the deck absorbing most of the vibration.
The stiff deck also means that it can pick up serious speed, unlike the Loaded Vanguard. In comparison to boards which had more flex, riders stated that the Atom Bamboo Drop through longboard has just enough flex that riders could feel their board underneath them yet was stiff enough to allow for some serious speed when bombing hills.
Due to the trucks, the turning capability of this board was also deemed to be above average. This board might not be able to make a tight 90 degree turn around a sidewalk corner at high speeds but it functions perfectly for making curves down hills and around roads.

Typically drop through boards are not used for sliding but the Atom Bamboo Drop Through is the exception. It’s not the ideal sliding board, for that Review Longboards would recommend the Sector 9 Mini Shaka, but slides are definitely attainable quickly on this board.
The only recommendation riders had would be to buy some dedicated sliding wheels such as the Sector 9 Slide Butterballs 80a 65mm Skate Wheels which is one of our recommended best longboard wheels. For only a little more money more, sliding on this board will be much easier and riders will be able to save their other wheels for carving and downhill.
Who should buy the Atom Drop Through?
With a mixture of bamboo and maple, the Atom Bamboo Drop Through Longboard has the perfect longboard deck for any riding. With just the right amount of flex, it excels at carving and can pick up some high speed when going down hills.
With the addition of some slide wheels, this longboard can easily alternate between carving and sliding down hills. Review Longboards would definitely recommend this board to beginner and intermediate riders because of its combination of price and capabilities.
